Gallaway Cook Allan is described as a firm with a heart. Our roots go back to the founding days of Otago and the succession of partners throughout the generations have and do actively respect the old traditions of caring for our clients. To that end our professional and support staff enjoy a grounded, supportive and collaborative team environment that allows for a variety of independent characters.

Everyone here holds special respect for hard work, while enjoying the friendliness and fun in a pleasant physical working environment. The Gallaway Cook Allan Dunedin building is a unique aesthetically pleasing “60’s” building located in Dunedin’s historic “Exchange” area, while the Wanaka office was purpose designed in 2007. Everyone enjoys a pleasant working space, and operates on an open-door approach. Our highly respected lawyers operate at the highest level of professionalism and integrity, simultaneously inviting staff to interact with them at a relaxed and familiar level.

Between the Wanaka and Dunedin offices we house up to 70 professionals and support staff made up of a good mix of experience levels. We have an active social club that organises the main Christmas staff events, the more casual “Friday drinks” and other social fun. Many of our people are active in community sports events such as fun-runs, indoor bowling, triathlons and major endurance events in the mountainous hinterland. When the pressure is on, it’s everyone on deck, but at the same time, there is plenty of opportunity to have a balanced lifestyle.

Gallaway Cook Allan selects people who are self-motivated with sound business acumen. Our staff continue to take on the original pride of building and developing relationships, both within the organisation and of course with clients. Staff are encouraged to share their aspirations openly and will receive guidance and honest feedback.

Many of our staff enjoy study and graduation leave, subsidised legal advice, access to the information systems from home, paid carparks and mobile phones.
