Nathan grew up on a farm in eastern Southland before studying law at the University of Otago. He worked on farms with a range of livestock and in a range of situations from the shearing shed to beekeeping.
After qualifying he joined a Christchurch firm and moved in 2001 to a London City practice where, as a Partner, he handled a variety of legal work in depth including corporate, commercial, project finance and charity work.
In 2008 he returned to New Zealand becoming part of Gallaway Cook Allan's Commercial Team, an opportunity in which he could combine his extensive legal experience with his interest in agri-business.
“Having a level of knowledge about my client's business helps me understand them better. I am enjoying getting out of the office and visiting clients whether their business is in town or the country,” says Nathan.
“I like the contact with people from all walks of life and the challenge of making sure all issues are identified and resolved to my clients satisfaction”.
Nathan believes in giving frank advice in a straightforward way, and wants to make sure people get a fair deal - “It's important to give value for money”.
Outside work Nathan attends Rotary, likes to visit his forest block (with his chainsaw) and enjoys taking it easy with his family.
