She also handles a large number of Care of Children Act and Child Youth and Family cases.

Aside from family law, Helen practises in conveyancing, trusts, small businesses, wills, and property settlements, and has experience in commercial, securities, company, and mining law. She also helps manage the Dunedin Community Law Centre.

Helen appreciates that family law often involves helping people at highly stressful times in their lives. She believes in making things as easy as possible.

"I fix problems for people, and I do it quickly and efficiently. I don't make things any more complicated than they have to be, and I don't charge the earth," she says.

"We want to do the best for our clients, giving quality service and forming good personal relationships. We've got different generations of the same families still coming to us. We're in it for the long term — you can't take on a family's affairs otherwise."
